At Mother of Merch, inclusion isn’t optional, it’s the foundation of how we work, who we work with, and the communities we support.
We believe business is stronger, bolder, and better when everyone has a seat at the table. That means we actively stand with and support:
Trans and non-binary people
People of all races, cultures, and ethnicities
Disabled and neurodivergent communities
LGBTQ+ communities
Anyone who has ever been told they don’t belong in business
This policy applies to everyone we interact with - clients, collaborators, suppliers, partners and our wider community.
Why This Matters
Diversity and inclusion aren’t trends. They are the baseline of a fair and human led business. We know the world of business isn't always welcoming - but that is not something that we are going to be involved in. Instead, we want to build a company that makes space for difference, challenges the status quo, and celebrates what makes people unique.
We also know inclusion isn’t about claiming to be a 'safe space.' It’s about doing the work, every day, to create spaces where people feel seen, respected, and valued. Which is one of the reasons that Lisa is also host of The NETwork in Sheffield. Founded by Regina Martin, The NETwork was created to support those that do not feel welcome in traditional networking. So if you are looking to connect with business owners in your local area, have a look and see if there is a NETwork hosted near you.
Our Commitments
Language & Representation
We use inclusive language across our website, marketing, and communications. We invite pronouns on all of our documentation, because identity matters. We actively review our visuals and materials to make sure they represent diverse people and communities because that is who we want to work with.
Suppliers & Partnerships
We prioritise suppliers and collaborators who share our values. We have moved away from companies that do not promote the same values as us and will continue to review who we work with to continue this. We won’t knowingly work with businesses that promote or enable discrimination.
Accessibility
We design our processes with neurodivergent and disabled communities in mind. We provide alt text, captions, and accessible formats wherever possible.
We choose venues and events that prioritise physical accessibility.
We can communicate with you via email, phone call, Zoom calls, voice notes, Whatsapp, social media and in person. If there is another way you'd like to connect, let us know and we'll do our best to make it happen.
We are open to feedback about barriers we may not have noticed. If you have any, please reach out to us via your preferred method of contact.
Working With Clients
We welcome clients from all communities and backgrounds.
Whilst we understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, we will not accept clients who promote hate, exclusion, or discrimination.
We commit to honest conversations to ensure our work supports your business without compromising our values.
Internal Practices
We commit to continuous learning, training, and self-education to improve our understanding of inclusion.
We regularly review our policies to make sure they stay relevant and effective.
Accountability
We know we won’t always get it right, even with the best intentions. Inclusion is an ongoing process and we are committed to learning, unlearning, and improving.
If you see something we’ve missed - whether it is in our language, products, or practices - we want you to tell us so we can put it right, if you feel comfortable to.
Please email us at [email protected] with any feedback or concerns.
Zero Tolerance
We do not tolerate hate, exclusion, harassment, or discrimination.
Of any kind.
Ever.
That includes racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, sexism, ageism, classism, or any other form of exclusion.
If this doesn’t align with your values, then we’re not the business for you.
If you are aware of anyone connected with Mother of Merch that goes against our values, then please let us know so that we can investigate the matter internally.
Continuous Improvement
This policy is reviewed regularly to make sure it reflects best practice and the needs of the communities we serve. As the world changes, so will we.
